Osteoarthritis Management

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, affecting millions of people worldwide. It occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones wears down over time.

Osteoarthritis commonly occurs in major joints like the knee, hip, and ankle. Small joints of the hand can also be affected secondary to osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis is managed depending on the severity of the disease. Physiotherapy, weight reduction, glucosamine intake, and analgesia can reduce pain and increase patient mobility.

Other forms of treatment include Hyaluronic Acid injection, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injection, or RFA (Radio Frequency Ablation).

If all fails or is in a severe form of arthritis, joint replacement surgery should be considered.
